Mike Woodcock – Deer

Michael Woodcock - Deer

I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to hunt with the Wyoming Disabled Hunters this year. I had thought that my hunting days were over until I got to the lodge on Friday, got all checked in, and met one of my companion hunters, Bruce Fauskee. He took me out to sight in and make sure my equipment was ready to go. That same evening, I got to meet my second companion hunter, Terry Dolan, and his wife. After meeting both companion hunters, my wife and I felt very welcome. My wife was able to spend some time with the lady volunteers and gain a friendship with them and some of the other hunter family members. They are some amazing ladies! Bruce, Terry and I met at the lodge and headed out for our first hunt on Hawks Hill Ranch. An amazing place in our great state of Wyoming. The first day was spent viewing a lot of deer. But not the deer we wanted. We were told that a larger buck was on the property. So that was now the goal. The second morning we found the buck they told us about. Bruce and Terry made a plan for me to harvest the buck. We were successful! My wife and I can’t possibly show enough gratitude to the organization, volunteers, the WDH board, and their sponsors. Everyone made this hunt unforgettable. This is truly a special organization run by amazing volunteers!

Thank you for allowing me to have the once-in-a-lifetime experience!
